mr. kelada and mr. ramsay argued about whether the pearls mrs. ramsay was wearing were real or not.
mr. kelada thought they were real, mr. ramsay thought they weren't.
ramsay hoped to prove mr. kelada wrong and by that teach him a lesson so he wouldn't feel like he knows all.
the reason mr. kelada lies and says the pearls are fake-
he sees the terror in mrs. ramsays's face.
while he knew the real value of the pearls he understood that ramsay did not and that mrs. ramsay was scared to death that her husband would find out.

she left a 100 dollar bill under mr. kelada's cabin door because she appreciated what he had done to protect her.
he had deliberately lost the bet and it cost him a 100 dollars so she wanted to repay him.

the narralor is prejudiced because he prejudges mr. kelada at the beginning of the story before even meeting him he doesn't like kelada's name, the look of his luggage and his toiletries.
