in the context of package delivery, a "hub" is like a post office. in fact it might be a post office. it is a local centre where packages are collected for dispatch to their destination. so a courier or local agent will collect a package from the sender, send it on to its local hub for sorting. the local (or 'receiving') hub will send the package on to the nearest hub to its destination, the 'arrival hub'. from there it is picked up by a courier for delivery to where it's addressed. depending upon how the system is organised, a package might pass through several intermediate hubs before getting to the arrival hub.
